Board approves 11 a.m. opening for cannabis retail dispensaries

Town Board · Meeting of June 1, 2026

NY WHEATFIELD — Wheatfield approves cannabis hours, authorizes $363K in highway equipment purchases. The Town Board on June 1 set daily operating hours for adult-use cannabis retailers at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., following a public hearing where store owners requested extended Sunday hours to match other area retailers. Councilman Randy Retzlaff dissented.

The Board authorized $198,746 for a Mack truck and $164,570 for truck equipment—both piggybacked on an Onondaga County bid and subject to a 30-day permissive referendum—plus a $7,500 Hyster forklift purchase. Highway Superintendent Paul Siegmann requested all three vehicle acquisitions, to be paid from the Equipment Capital Reserve Fund.
