Wheatfield approves $691,000 in expenditures and hires seasonal staff

NY WHEATFIELD — Wheatfield Town Board approves $691,302 in bill payments. The board unanimously approved expenditures of $255,050.07 and $436,252.02 across general, highway, water, sewer and refuse accounts for March and April, and authorized hiring 19 summer seasonal workers for parks and recreation services, pending Human Resources approval and Niagara County background checks. The board also approved a $10,752.50 Gator purchase for the Recreation Department and authorized Highway Department staff Paul Siegmann and Jamie Irving to attend Cornell Local Roads High School training May 31-June 3 in Ithaca.

Supervisor Don MacSwan clarified the town's garbage ordinance targets excessive piling, chronic offenders and illegal dumping, responding to resident concerns about collection practices.
