Wheatfield enacts six-month moratorium on tall residential accessory structures

NY WHEATFIELD — Wheatfield Town Board imposes six-month moratorium on tall residential accessory structures. The board voted 3-1 to approve Local Law 2-2026, a six-month ban on applications and approvals for accessory structures exceeding 10 feet in wall height or 16 feet in total height in residential zones, effective retroactively from July 20. Councilman Curt Doktor voted against the measure.
The moratorium may be extended for an additional six months while the town reviews code requirements. A public hearing drew resident concerns about neighborhood impacts and requests for case-by-case consideration of pending applications.
