Wheatfield Town Board authorizes $3.5 million Nash Road Landfill settlement

NY WHEATFIELD — Wheatfield Town Board authorizes $3.5 million Nash Road Landfill settlement. Councilman Helwig moved and Councilman Doucet seconded the settlement authorization for four consolidated federal lawsuits alleging toxic exposure from the former landfill site, docketed at 17-cv-377, 18-cv-560, 18-cv-1486, and 23-cv-177 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.
The settlement, negotiated through federal court mediation, requires all remaining claims to be voluntarily dismissed with prejudice in exchange for the $3.5 million payment. The board also unanimously approved bill payments totaling $625,010.63 and hired Eric J. Diethorn as a part-time Constable.
