Zoning board approves tight-setback home despite fire concerns

NY WHEATFIELD — Wheatfield Zoning Board approves four setback variances despite fire and conservation concerns. The board voted 4-1 to allow Gabrielle and Brian Literman to build a new home at 112 Hird Street with a five-foot West side setback instead of 15 feet, among three reduced setbacks; Chairman Michael Schaffer supported the variance while Board Member Walter Garrow opposed. The board unanimously approved Kevin McCarriagher's side setback variance for a laundry room addition, approved Sam D'Angelo & Sons' Conservation Area setback reduction on two parcels 4-0 with Member Matt Klettke recused, and unanimously approved Christopher Dalton's barn height increase from 20 feet to 24 feet.
The Literman approval was granted with no conditions.
