Zoning board continues five-megawatt battery storage variance

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of February 23, 2026

NY WHEATFIELD — The Wheatfield Zoning Board continued a variance hearing for a battery energy storage system to March 9 due to weather. Vice-Chairman Walter Garrow presided as the board postponed the Syncarpha CF II, LLC hearing; weather prevented the applicant from attending. The company seeks approval for a five-megawatt system on Liberty Drive with setbacks as narrow as ten feet, but town code limits such systems to one megawatt and requires 500-foot setbacks.

Two residents attended to inquire about the proposal.
